Fact Sheet - Violence against Women Worldwide  Violence against women and girls is a problem of pandemic proportions. Based on country data available, up to 70 percent of women experience physical or sexual violence from men in their lifetime — the majority from husbands, intimate partners or someone they know. مصر: توقيف قرآني بمطار القاهرة علي خلفية كتاباته علي الانترنت

قامت سلطات الأمن اليوم، 18 نوفمبر 2009، بتوقيف الكاتب القرآني عبد اللطيف السيد ومنعه من السفر. وكان قد تم منع عبد اللطيف من السفر في وقت سابق من هذا العام في شهر إبريل. جدير بالذكر أنه في عام 2007، تم اعتقال عبد اللطيف 5 شهور علي خليفة معتقده الديني وكتاباته علي الانترنت في منتديات ومواقع مختلفة تتناول آراء القرآنيين تحديث - ترحيل عبد اللطيف السيد إلى مقر مباحث أمن الدولة بشبرا الخيمة ظهر اليوم وتقدم المبادرة المصرية للحقوق الشخصية ،منظمة حقوق إنسان مصرية، بطلب للنائب العام للتحقيق في القبض على أحد (القرآنيين) بمطار القاهرة تحديث -  إطلاق سراح عبد اللطيف سعيد  اليوم الأربعاء 25 نوفمبر 2009 بعد احتجازه لمدة أسبوع بمقر مباحث أمن الدولة بشبرا الخيمة. وقد ذكر المحتجز لباحثي المبادرة المصرية للحقوق الشخصية أنه لم يتعرض للتعذيب أو إساءة المعاملة أثناء فترة احتجازه. *الصورة: عبد اللطيف السيد   Egypt: Quranist Writer Detained at Cairo Airport Today, 18 November 2009, Police Officers stopped the quranist writer Abdel-Latif Saied from ...

Threatened Voices: Egypt ranks 2nd in Threatening Netizens

Threatened Voices , a project of Global Voices Advocacy to map instances where bloggers and online writers have been threatened, arrested, killed, or disappeared by authorities since 2000 until today. So far, Threatened Voices monitored 28 cases in Egypt where bloggers and online writers arrested have been threatened, the 28 cases makes Egypt the 2nd among Top 10 Countries in threatening netizens.  The 1st in the Top countries is China (33 bloggers), after Egypt comes Iran (23 bloggers), Tunisia (18 bloggers), Syria (14 bloggers), Vietnam (9 bloggers), Azerbaijan (3 bloggers), Bahrain (3 bloggers), Cuba (3 bloggers) and  Morocco (3 bloggers) . It should be mentioned that a report issued by Committee to Protect Journalists on December 08, found that 45% of all media workers jailed worldwide are bloggers, Web-based reporters, or online editors.

Egpyt: How is Gamal Mubarak doing Online?

Sharek ,which means participate in Arabic, is the name of an online initiative launched by Mr. Gamal Mubarak, son of current President Hosni Mubarak and the General Secretary of the Policy Committee of the National Democratic Party (NDP) .
