I want to take a moment and tell you about my friend, brother and mentor Alaa Abd el-Fattah. Alaa means alot to me on a personal level, and part of who I am today is because of him. The times we spent in the kitchen, living room and streets crafting ideas, organizing things, shaping possibilities, volunteering our tech skills to help whatever cause or group crossed our path along with redefining technologies with hopes and dreams. He is arguably the most high-profile political prisoner in Egypt, if not the Arab world, rising to international prominence during the revolution of 2011.
